Product Description

Mouse ALT1/GPT1 Recombinant Protein is a recombinant form of alanine aminotransferase 1, also known as ALT1 or GPT1. The protein is expressed in Escherichia coli (E. coli) and contains a His-tag to facilitate purification and detection.

This recombinant protein corresponds to amino acid residues 1–496 and is supplied in liquid form. It is suitable for SDS-PAGE analysis and enzyme activity studies. Its enzymatic function is associated with the reversible transfer of an amino group between alanine and alpha-ketoglutarate, producing pyruvate and glutamate.

Biological Function of ALT1/GPT1

Alanine aminotransferase 1 (ALT1), encoded by the Gpt gene, is an enzyme involved in amino acid metabolism and the glucose-alanine cycle.

It catalyzes the reversible conversion of L-alanine and alpha-ketoglutarate into pyruvate and L-glutamate. This reaction contributes to amino acid metabolism and the transfer of nitrogen between tissues.

Enzyme Activity
