Product Description

Cystatin A (CSTA), also known as Stefin A, is a member of the cystatin superfamily of proteins. It belongs to the type 1 cystatin family and functions primarily as an endogenous inhibitor of cysteine proteases.

Cystatin A forms tight inhibitory complexes with several cysteine proteases, including papain and cathepsins B, H and L. Through this activity, it contributes to the regulation of proteolytic processes involved in cellular function and tissue homeostasis.

CSTA is particularly associated with epithelial tissues and is an important precursor component of the cornified cell envelope in keratinocytes. It plays a role in epidermal development, differentiation and maintenance of the skin barrier.

This CF568-conjugated Cystatin A reagent is designed for fluorescent detection of the CSTA target in research applications. CF568 fluorescent labeling provides a bright signal suitable for fluorescence-based protein detection and cellular localization studies.

Fluorescently labeled reagents can support investigations of protein distribution, tissue expression and biological pathways associated with cysteine protease regulation.
