Benzylaminopurine (6-BAP)
PLANT TISSUE CULTURE REAGENT
Benzylaminopurine (6-BAP)
Plant growth regulator used in plant tissue culture to influence cell division, shoot proliferation, seed germination, and in vitro plant development.
Product Overview
Benzylaminopurine (BAP), also known as Benzyl Adenine, BAP, or BA, is a plant growth regulator commonly used in plant tissue culture applications. It is used to support cell division and shoot proliferation during in vitro plant development.
BAP powder can be incorporated into tissue culture media such as MS, Gamborg's, DKW, and Chu's N6 media according to the requirements of the plant species and experimental protocol. The product is supplied as a white to pale yellow powder and passes for tissue culture suitability.

Key Features & Benefits
Plant Growth Regulation
Influences plant growth and development through its use as a cytokinin-type plant growth regulator.
Shoot Proliferation
Commonly used in tissue culture media to support shoot development and proliferation in vitro.
Tissue Culture Media
Can be used to supplement media such as MS, Gamborg's, Chu's N6, and DKW media.
Tissue Culture Suitability
Passes for tissue culture and is supplied as a white to pale yellow powder.
Applications
- Micropropagation of various plant species
- Somatic embryogenesis
- Stimulating seed germination
- In vitro shoot development
- Breaking bud dormancy
- Supplementation of plant tissue culture media
- Plant growth and development studies
Assay Protocol & Media Preparation
Prepare the tissue culture medium according to the requirements of the plant species and selected basal medium.
Sugar
30 g/L
PPM
1 mL/L
Gellan Gum
3-4 g/L
Agar
6-8 g/L
Add the desired quantity of BAP from the prepared BAP stock solution. Autoclave the prepared medium for 20 minutes at 15 psi and 121°C.
The BAP concentration should be selected according to the plant species, tissue type, and specific tissue culture protocol being followed.
